Providence Regional Medical Center Everett

“There’s Good in Everybody”

At first Mike Moore thought he had the flu. But when his symptoms turned serious, he asked his son to take him to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. Watch the video to see how a small dog bite changed Mike’s life – and why he now says, “There’s good in everybody. And it’s just amazing how the generosity comes out.”

Great video! I like that his dog is motivating him to continue healing.

I gave money to Providence last year. I’m glad I did. It’s really satisfying to be able to see how the money you give helps a real, live person.

Yes, Dana, it is great that Providence helped Mike. But how else would we know about the great work like this that Providence does if they don’t tell about it? It’s no different than the newspaper running an article about a doctor going oversees to help people in another country. So how about leaving it that Providence does great work, period.

I agree with you Lee, how else would anyone know about how much Providence gives back to the community. Also, I think we need to see this from Mike’s perspective. Allowing Mike to tell his story gives him the opportunity to say thank you. His emotions and appreciation are clear for all to see.

It’s great that they helped him, but creepy that they’re using his story to promote themselves. Helping the community is one thing, – buying Facebook ads to tell everyone is another.

Prov has a history of terrible community relations. Ask us, who live next door to them.

Still, I’m glad that Mike got the help he needed, and they didn’t kick him to the curb.

Providence Regional is second only to Harborview in how much we gave back to the community in charity care last year. And Harborview is supported by taxpayers, while Providence Regional is not; it’s a private not-for-profit organization. Those of us who work here believe strongly in the mission to serve the poor and vulnerable and yes, we are very proud of caring for those who have nowhere else to go–it’s part of our heritage and why we choose to work here. It’s so rewarding to help people like Mike.

Wow, what a negative spin you have to put on it Dana. I hope that isn’t how you look at life on a regular basis! What an unhappy way to live.

Believe it or not that is my uncle. My dad’s half brother. When he got sick and went into a coma it was terrible. I hadn’t seen him since we moved out of washington when my dad died and I felt terrible knowing that there was a possiblity of never seeing him again. But the docters there did a great job and I saw him for the first time in years last summer. So I would like to thank you to everyone that helped my uncle in Providence Regional Medical Center. And would like to thank all the donaters many thanks.

This totally made me cry! What a great story. I’m happy he pulled through and is going back to his regular life with his family and dog. I’m also so glad you’re around to help people who need it. It’s good to know that if my family needed a doctor, you would be there to help us, no matter who we are or what kind of insurance we have.

I live in Everett and today in the mail I got an envelope from Prov. telling this story and asking for a donation. So perhaps the title should read: “Providence would like to thank it’s local supporters for there kind donations”…wouldnt that be a little more honset.

    • Providence General Foundation says:

Thank you for your comment. Providence Regional and Providence General Foundation appreciate the many generous donors who help support the mission and work of Providence Regional.
