Our Mission in Action
Everyday, Providence financial counselors work with patients who, for various reasons, find themselves unable pay their hospital bills. Our counselors are often able to help them with charity care. In 2009, the Providence Southwest Washington Service Area provided
$14 million (cost of care) in free or discounted care. The numbers are impressive, but the personal stories are even more compelling. Financial counselors Gloria Gipson, Bob Hoyt and Lee Ann Matthews recall just a few of these stories in this video. When you watch, you’ll understand how these people put our Providence values of Compassion and Respect into action.

My work can also be viewed at http://www.findamuralist.com and facebook at teresa marie staal. An aritst friend of mine, Jennifer Langely and I began an outreach to youth in the summers at Sylvester Park creating chalk art. In addition, I currently began teaching art to demensia clients at The Sequoia. Also, I previously helped run Art for Healing art exhibits at Scripps Hospital in Encinitas, California. I am also a member of the Olympia Art League and Olympia Nibs N Ink calligraphy. Please let me know of ideas of how I can support the clients, families and medical staff of Providence St. Peter Hospital.

Providence has supported my family and I on a number of occasions. Medical bills can be stressful, overwhelming and downright frightening. I am so thankful for the support and graciousness of the Charity Care program!
